Itinerary for Black Hills Corvette Classic to Spearfish, SD.

Our trip leaves Stoughton the morning of July 17th from the Park and Ride on I-90 north of Madison.  We will meet there at 8:00 AM and depart at 8:30. Driver’s meeting is at 8:15

Our first evening will be at Murdo, SD at the Best Western Range Country Lodging motel: 302 W. 5th Street, Murdo, SD. (605) 669-2425.  Rooms are blocked by JVZ or Corvette Group.  You must make your own reservations.  Mileage today about 600.

On the 18th we will drive the Badlands Loop road and possibly see the Minuteman Missile Site on the east end on the way to Spearfish, SD about 200 miles.   We will stay at the Holiday Inn, Spearfish, SD.  305 N. 27th Street, Spearfish, SD (800) 999-3541.   You must make your reservations directly with Kirsten Potter, NOW.    We will depart 7/21 for the return trip.

Our plan is to drive the Spearfish Canyon Road, Vanocker Canyon road, see Roughlok Falls and the closing film site of Dances with Wolves.

During the trip I plan to tour Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, the Needles Highway, have a sweet roll at Dollies in Keystone!  And more.  Another side trip is to see Devils Tower in Wyoming.  Or Deadwood, SD

On the way home, we could stop at Wall Drug – a very large rambling store in Wall, SD.

My plan is to get to Mitchell, SD for the stay overnight on the 21st.  Mitchell is the home of the worlds only Corn Palace!  The building is covered with corn cobs complete with kernels!  And the town has a large Cabelas!  (Brenda screams “no more guns!”)  We plan to stay at the Super 8 Motel, I-90 at Hwy 37 exit, (605) 996-9678.  You must make your own reservations.  Rooms are blocked under JVZ or Corvette Group.

This plan will get us home on the 22nd early evening.

Of course, if you want to get home sooner, simply have the courtesy to let me know.  It is okay to do this, and we won’t be looking for lost chicks.

It appears we will have about 12 cars.  We will have a second leader in order to keep us together

This is not a race – we can stop for conveniences and we can use the snowmobiler’s rules – watch the car behind you – if they stop you stop.  This way the whole line will stop.   This is about a 2500-mile total trip – make sure your car is checked out.  Call with questions:  Jeff Zarth,   608 576-7003
